Britain it seems is a nation hooked on welfare dependency with some spending their whole life’s on the dole. Yes it is true, there are members of our society who will do anything to avoid getting up out their bed in the morning and going to work and contributing to society.
Radical reforms are in need to end this culture of worklessness, Work Secretary Iain Duncan Smith is planning on doing away with as many as 50 benefits and introducing a single universal credit system.
In order to reduce the amount of people committing fraud and claiming to be sick and unable to work new reassessment for those on incapacity benefit is also underway, those found to be fit to work will be transferred over to Job Seekers allowance (JSA) where they will be expected to actively seek employment. Plans for making those in receipt of JSA to go out and work for their benefit or face sanctions are being put in place now.
The amount of money you receive will soon no longer depend on your circumstances but rather where you live and the cost to live in your area. Meaning if you live in London you may expect to receive a lot more money.
All these ideas being thrown around in an attempt to reduce the ever-growing unemployment figures but no new ideas as to where all these jobs are meant to come from.
We have a problem in the country and it’s not the work-shy or the benefit thief’s who just wish to spend their lives sponging of the state, but in actuality its the fact that there are no jobs!
Walking around my area just the other day it came to my attention and shock that almost all of the shops in my area are hair dressers, tanning salons, bookies and off licences along with a string of For Let signs above the vacant shops once occupied by Global Video, Fads, Woolworth’s, Local news Agents, A pound store and A Bakery. (The bakery is where I used to work.) Just to name a few. The industrial estate which was home to many warehouses is gone, demolished to make way for a motorway flyover. Along with the local garage.
This is reality and it can be seen up and down the country, sure there are jobs as recruitment advisors or in the financial industry not everyone is experience or qualified for those jobs.
How can the government solve the problem of unemployment when it’s not doing a single thing to increase the amount of jobs available. I applied for a job as a receptionist, later having not heard anything from the employer I called them up to enquire about my application, he said they had been overwhelmed with more than 1000 applications!
Ahh well, I think I have ranted enough for now.. comments are welcome..
